Space Ops (version)
As a second work in the Antarctic Buildings series i’m working on this relief depicting the Joint Space Center at McMurdo base. It has some very difficult features that allows me to seriously push the envelope on this one.

I own only one photobook by Bernd and Hilla Becher. It’s called Hochöfen and was printed in 1990 in lucious grey/silver duotone. I bought it in 1993 when I was working on the Industrial Landscape project with Freek Drent. He had bought Wassertürme. The photo above was taken in my studio today and shows one of the sixteen sculptures we made within the project. It incorporates a scalemodel of one of the watertowers in the Bechers book.

Hey there!
Twee en een halve maand geleden ben ik genokt met mijn kunstblog artbbq. Omdat er nog een aantal zaken zijn die ik graag wil publiceren zal ik een vers weblog aanmaken in een nieuwe opzet. Dit blog wordt volstrekt persoonlijk met zoveel mogelijk ‘originele inhoud’. Het zal veel meer in het verlengde staan van mijn beeldhouwsite. In ieder geval zal ik hier de bekende mp3 lijstjes gaan publiceren (of ik ook weer jaarlijstjes ga doen valt nog te bezien) en dagelijkse atelierfoto’s. Wat er verder bijkomt zal nog blijken. Ik wil daar wat mee gaan experimenteren. Ook aan de layout wordt gewerkt. De lay die ik gebruik op het moment dat ik dit bericht tik is een tijdelijk standaard wp theme. Deze zal later worden vervangen door mijn eigen handgemaakte lay. Pas als die er is zal ik het blog visueel invullen en verder uitbouwen met toeters en bellen.
Op dit moment gebruik ik de werktitel The Stray Voltage voor dit blog. Ik weet nog niet of dat zo blijft, wellicht ga ik toch terug naar de naam artbbq. Die url heb ik tenslotte al.
Ten weeks ago I quit my artbbq artblog. Since there is still some stuff I’d like to post I will be generating a fresh blog in a new format. This blog will be completely personal with as much as possible original content. It will be much more an extension of my sculpture site. I will be publishing my mp3 lists here and also daily studio snapshots. Further content will be established by experimentation. I’m still working on the layout. The lay in use while I’m typing this is a standard wp theme. This will be replaced by my own handmade one later on. Only when this is ready I will fix the look of my blog and fit it with gadgets and gismos.
At this moment I’m using the working title The Stray Voltage. I’m not sure if it will stay like this for long. Perhaps I’ll even return to artbbq. Having the url in my possession already.
