TOOLS OF THE TRADE

… life changing tools;
1: The Rotring Rapidograph 0.5mm. I had to use this pen in technical school for making technical drawings. (MTS fine mechanics) I was also constantly drawing my classmates with it, and we ended up printing a T-shirt of the combined drawings that got me accepted to art school. Almost 30 years later I still use it almost every day.
2: Soft and oil pastel crayons. I was mostly making black and white drawings and wanted to use more color and still be able to work on location. That’s how I discovered soft pastels, and during a residency in Taipei I started making lots of drawings on the street with them. When my hands got too dirty with crayon dust people invited me into their house to wash them and sometimes invited me for drinks and food as well.
